Montana is one of the most beautiful, least populated states in America. In fact, more people live in Graeter Cincinnati than in the whole state of Montana. That is just one of the reasons we love Montana for destination weddings and honeymoons – it’s like an undiscovered secret with more than its fair share of breathtaking scenery.
Whether you’re hosting a large wedding with hundreds of guests or a small ceremony with just your closest friends and family, Big Sky Resort in Big Sky, Montana offers scenery and accommodations that are second to none. Big Sky Resort is one of the largest ski resorts in the United States, with 5,800 acres of terrain, 23 chair lifts and 300 ski runs across four different mountains. For weddings, there are more than six indoor and outdoor locations around the property to choose from.
Exchange vows in one of two chapels at the resort, or treat your guests to unforgettable views of Lone Peak with an outdoor ceremony. This venue is the ultimate spot for hosting an all-inclusive ski resort wedding in Montana. During your downtime, pamper yourself at the Solace Spa & Salon, or play a round of golf at the Big Sky Resort 18-hole course. Couples having a destination wedding in Montana will definitely want to take advantage of the resort’s wide variety of lodging, including cabins, chalets, condos, and even a full-service hotel. As an added bonus, Big Sky Resort is located less than an hour away from Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, Montana’s main airport.
Speaking of Yellowstone, did you know you could get married in a national park?
Weddings may be permitted in certain areas of Yellowstone National Park depending on location, group size, and the time of year or day. While the park can be an unforgettable backdrop for your special day, if you are looking for an exclusive or decorated, formal celebration, this may not be the best choice for you. A Special Use Permit is required for a wedding ceremony to take place in any area of the park with the exception of the historic Mammoth Chapel. Applications are accepted up to 12 months in advance and no later than 2-4 weeks before the requested ceremony date. Due to changing weather conditions and resource issues, permits will not be issued more than a few weeks in advance, and the approved permit must be with you during your event.
If waiting until a few weeks before your wedding to get your permit will cause you unnecessary stress, we can help you find other stunning locations in the Big Sky/Bozeman/Yellowstone area.
