We had the pleasure of working with this sweet couple, Kelly + Clay, back in July for their wedding at Hyde Park Country Club. What a beautiful day it was. In fact, we had a very hard time selecting only a few of our favorite photos to showcase here. Congratulations you two!

Tell Us How You Met: Clay and I met three years ago when my best friend convinced me to take a trip to Lexington for a University of Kentucky football game and stay with her longtime friend – Clay. Clay and Katherine had grown up together, yet Clay and I had never met. From the moment we met, we hit it off and the rest is history! We dated long distance for about a year and a half until I convinced him that he should move up to Cincinnati 🙂
List Three Favorite Elements of Your Wedding: My flowers – oh my gosh I loved my flowers. Courtenay was AMAZING and helped me through the entire process. The band – Soul Pocket was absolutely amazing and had the entire group dancing from start to finish. Getting ready with all of the girls (Claire – photographer- and PinkLouLou girls – makeup and hair). This was such a fun and special time for me to be surrounded by all of my best friends and family and to see them all get glammed up and feel beautiful.
List Three Additional Vendors (Not Already Listed) That You Loved: i-do boutique, of course 🙂 , Prime Time Rentals, Alterations by Toni, Soul Pocket – I can’t just list 3 – everybody was wonderful.
Your ceremony in three words: Personal, light, happy
What was your inspiration for your reception? I wanted the reception to be a big party; I just wanted people to have fun and dance- A LOT. In terms of decor, the room at Hyde Park is very light and airy. I wanted to compliment that with beautiful florals, lots of greenery and light golds and creams. I showed Courtenay my Pinterest board and she quickly picked up on my love for Coral Charm peonies. Those were scattered across the floral arrangements, which I loved. Furthermore, Kristen at Poeme was AMAZING. She captured my “vision” and did such a wonderful job with the invitations and day-of paper.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding ceremony? I got really good advice from my photographer and friend, Claire. She told me to look out during the ceremony at all of the people that were there for Clay and me that day. We had two songs during our ceremony, one of which was sung while I was there. I took that time to look out at the entire congregation and take it all in- I’m so glad that I had that time.

What was the best advice you received as a bride? Enjoy the day and let other people do the worrying. I truly took that to heart. Not everything goes perfectly, but at the end of the day, you get to marry the man of your dreams. Remember what you are there for and everything else will seem unimportant.
What is the one piece of advice you would give to other couples that are now planning their wedding? Be yourself, enjoy the time and don’t sweat what you can’t control. Also, make it your goal to make memories that day and actually remember them. I know that may sound crazy, but the day goes by so quickly and can be such a blur. Stop and take some moments to enjoy what is going on around you. Actually, that leads me to my true advice- get a videographer!!!! That will help you remember the moments that you didn’t remember.
If you had to do it all over again, what would you do differently? I can truly say that I would not do a thing differently; it was the best day of my life.
What was your favorite part of the day? It is really hard to narrow down one favorite part of the day because so many special memories were made with so many different people. Of course, my overall favorite moment was marrying Clay, but there are so many little moments that were had that made the entire day complete.
