Florida is a very popular location for Cincinnatians who want to have a destination wedding in the U.S. There are plentiful direct flights, those flights are mostly under 3 hours, the marriage license requirements are reasonable (valid for 60 days with no waiting period for non-Floridians) and the weather is often sunny!
One of our favorite spots for destination weddings on the Gulf Coast is the Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village.
This resort specializes in distinctive wedding experiences in the Fort Myers, FL area. They have three ballrooms that can accommodate both intimate affairs and grand celebrations for up to 1400 guests.
Their indoor wedding venues feature natural lighting, beautiful architecture, scenic balconies and more. The Gazebo Lawn (pictured above) can seat up to 100 for a seated banquet or 200 for a cocktail reception.
From spaces for your ceremony and reception to guest rooms and venues for your rehearsal dinner and farewell brunch, everything you need is here. They even have an onsite spa and salon offering bridal packages.
The guest rooms are spacious and have great views of the water and marina. The adjacent Tarpon Point Marina offers fishing charters, boat and kayak rental, and guided local tours. The public Yacht Basin & Club has a sandy riverside beach and fishing pier, while the scenic Gulf of Mexico is dotted with small tropical islands, active rookeries and sports fishing opportunities. Gorgeous beaches are close by, including world-renowned Sanibel Island and Fort Myers Beach. Guests can golf at seven area courses, enjoy SunSplash Family Water Park or visit one of the more than 30 recreational parks near the hotel.
Be on the lookout for an abundance of local wildlife as you walk or hike along the elevated trails winding among the mangroves at Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve. Sports fans will enjoy the action when Spring Training for Major League Baseball starts in Cape Coral, and this diverse city also offers world-class dining, plenty of shopping and cultural experiences including museums, art, and theater.
The resort offers stunning waterfront views of the Gulf of Mexico, Tarpon Point Marina, and the Caloosahatchee River.
Additionally, the grand spiral staircase in the lobby wraps around an artistic waterfall cascading from the ceiling and is an ideal location for breathtaking bridal party portraits. Couples who book this resort even have the option of arriving or departing from the celebration in a private helicopter!
