We cannot stress the importance of hiring a wedding videographer enough. The biggest regret we hear from past brides we work with, is not having one on their wedding day. There’s nothing to take away from photographers or a beautiful photograph, but there are things that a wedding film can provide that a photograph simply cannot. A wedding video truly captures the spirit and magic of your big day. Besides the obvious moving pictures, a wedding film adds the dimension of audio to your wedding experience. Whether it’s rematching your ceremony, to hear your heartfelt vows or being able to go back and hear your loved ones speeches again. You want to capture those special moments, not just for you to look back on, but to share with your kids one day too.
Studio Z is a team of passionate filmmakers led by Steve Zugelter and based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Since their first wedding in 2004, they have had the opportunity to film weddings near and far, including several destination weddings. Aside from Steve, there are three other people that film along side of them, though typically, there are only two filmmakers at a each wedding. They film about 20 weddings a year and their most popular offering is the Same Day Edit Film. This means they film it, edit it, and show a highlight of the day that evening at the end of dinner. We had a chance recently to catch up with Steve from Studio Z to discuss what got him started, why he loves the wedding industry in Cincinnati and more!
1. What led you to wedding videography?
I was a commercial and promotions producer for a local station, which is where I met my wife. While we were planning our wedding, a friend asked my wife if I would be interested in creating their wedding video. I was hooked! The energy at a wedding is contagious and I wanted more of it!
2. What do you love most about shooting Cincinnati weddings?
I love the variety Cincinnati has in wedding venues. There is no shortage of venues and one is sure to match your design and vision.
3. Why should more couples hire videographers?
More couples should hire someone to film their wedding because we’re creating two things simultaneously. We’re creating the film that they’ll watch for the next several decades to relive those special moments and to hear loved ones voices again. At the same time, we’re creating a family heirloom, something that in 100 years will tell future generations your story.
4. How do you work with wedding photographers to make sure you both get coverage without getting in each other’s way?
We’re all there for the same purpose, to create something amazing for our couples and to work together as a team to make sure that happens. We coordinate with the photographers to make sure we’re not going to be in their shot and to also make sure they won’t be in our shot. It’s mutual respect.
5. What is your favorite restaurant in Cincinnati? Favorite thing to order off their menu?
Any restaurant? Easily Jeff Ruby’s and easily a NY Strip, medium-rare.
